Permanently prohibited bathing areas

Some portions of the regional coastline, about 28 km out of a total of 136 km, are not considered bathing waters, based on the criteria set out in the Bathing Ordinance N. 1/2019 of the Emilia-Romagna Region and identified with DGR n.623 of 06.08.2020 of the Emilia-Romagna region. On them exists a permanent bathing prohibition. These are coastal areas designed for specific activities and this feature excludes their suitability for bathing activity, or these are areas characterized by a risk for health of bathers bacause of hygiene reasons or security reasons.
The areas not intended for bathing, and therefore prohibited, are divided into the following categories:

1. areas used for shellfish farming: Sacca di Goro, in the same municipality,almost entirely allocated to this activity;

2. military areas: the shooting range Foce Reno in Casalborsetti, municipality of Ravenna;
3. areas under conservation constraint for the protection of fauna and flora:the nature reserve of the mouth of the Bevano torrent, inserted inside the "Po Delta Regional Park";
4. river mouths: subject to the ban because of potential harmful substances conveyed;
5. harbour areas: the prohibition of bathing in all ports is related to the transit of vessels.
